Had fun meeting candidates and seeing the exhibits at Cowtown today. Bet it was their busiest day ever. Parking lot was packed. I’m encouraged that there are so many pro-life voters in Sedgwick County.
Thanks, KFL!
I’m please to announce that Kansans For Life has endorsed me. Thanks, KFL, and God bless you and your good works.
Thanks to my committee!
My campaign committee had our last luncheon of the 2016 campaign season. We discussed the highs and lows of the campaign, and enjoyed a discussion of the state of the Kansas judiciary while we ate lunch. I was again impressed by the breadth of experience these men have in their law practices, professional careers, as well as their sharp minds. I am blessed to have such men on my side.
I thank all my committee members one more time. Dick Peckham, Jim Spencer, Mitch Herren. Mike Kennalley, David Bengtson, and Ryan Baty, I greatly appreciate you assistance and guidance. I feel like the luckiest and most blessed “protege” on the planet and look forward to being mentored by you again in four years. With men like you on my side I have nothing to fear.
Blessings to you all,
Kevin
Final 2016 campaign letter…

KBA article on shutting down the practice.
Here’s an article published in the May KBA Journal on lessons I learned from shutting down my law practice. There are some practical lessons most attorneys and private business owners can learn from. For some reason, I corrected a grammatical error in prior post but couldn’t get FB to accept even when I reposted so I started over.

Thank you!
Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign. Because of you, we ramped things up quickly and sent a clear message that we would fight tooth and nail to make sure division 12 had a conservative, strict constructionist judge for another 4 years at least. We passed out brochures at the republican caucus, sent more than a thousand letters to potential supporters and opponents, and attended lunches and other political events. Without you helping financially and otherwise, all those things would have been more difficult. I will return my thanks by continuing to be the judge I promised to be.
For now I am shutting down the campaign so I can focus on being a judge. We won’t wind things up again until 2019.
God bless and have a great weekend!
Hon. Kevin M. Smith
No opposition in 2016
It is 12:34 pm. The SOS candidates list is updated. With the 12:00 pm deadline past, it appears I am unopposed in 2016. Thanks to everyone who supported my candidacy and the volunteers who won’t get to knock on doors and march in parades in 90 degree June-August heat. I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Sedgwick County as a fair, unbiased judge committed to applying the rule of law for at least another 4.5 years.
Blessings,
kevin
Thought for the day…
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
My most fulfilling case…
Check out my former client Randy Reed of Randy Reed Motors. See Randy Reed Article and Video. Winning his case and securing a permanent injunction against the Obama Administration was my proudest moment as a civil litigator. Unborn lives were saved. See complaint here. If you are an attorney with a desire to do personally fulfilling if not financially rewarding work defending families, the church, college students in religious freedom matters, as well as stand up for the sanctity of life, I recommend you become an Allied Attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom.
Reflection…
Isaiah 41:12-13 You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Good words to consider when facing adversity.
