Come see me at the caucus!

I picked up the table banner and uploaded the campaign ad. We’re all set for  caucus campaigning! Please swing by the table and pick up a brochure and some cards for your friends. I’d love to chat about my philosophy on jurisprudence, as if you don’t already know it. Hint…I loved Justice Antonin Scalia!

Call to action!

imageFriends, family, and fellow believers of the sanctity of separation of powers, let me know if you’d like to help out with the campaign. For now that means spending some time during the week and weekends knocking on doors and placing door hangers on potential voters’ doors. Not lots of time, just those spare minutes when you feel the urge. Send me and email with your address and I’ll give you some door hangers to place. Also, when we meet people it’d be helpful to ask if they’d let us put up yard signs when the time comes. Making a note of addresses of the yays then forwarding them to me will suffice here. Won’t order them unless we get a contest in the primary or general, but it’s time to take names and prepare.

The more legs the more effective we’ll be.

Also, let us know if you’re willing to financially support the effort. You can send a check made out to “Kevin Mark Smith for Judge” to the attention of Richard Peckham, Treasurer, to 1502 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214. The max for the primary is $500.00 per person.

Ryan Baty joins the team!

cheep sheepI’m happy to announce that Mattress Hub founder Ryan Baty is joining the campaign team. Ryan is also associate pastor of Family Church on West Kellogg. KU baseball fans will remember Ryan as KU’s all Big-12 Conference second baseman, Diamondbacks draftee, and pro baseball player. Ryan brings his business and marketing skills as well as prior political campaign experience to the team.

Please join me in welcoming Ryan to the team.

Campaign materials on the way!

I placed my order for door hangers and updated campaign business cards. The weather is warming so it’s almost time to start knocking on doors to get the word out. If you’d like to help, please send me an email at kevin4judge@gmail.com.

Please consider supporting the campaign with a donation. You may send a check made out to “Kevin Mark Smith for Judge” to the attention of Richard Peckham, Treasurer, 1502 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214. The cap before the primary is $500 per person. I thank you in advance for whatever support you can give.

Blessings,

Kevin

Happy to serve as judge!

My first week as District Judge for Sedgwick County is over. I am grateful that Judge Syrios left his docket in good order so there weren’t any headaches. It went smoothly and left me very satisfied and somewhat relieved. I must admit that I had some trepidation since I had to walk away from lots of wonderful clients and a law practice I spent almost fourteen years building. But I can now say with certainty that I have no regrets. I look forward to serving the citizens of Sedgwick County as their 12th division judge.

I’m also grateful for my Administrative Assistsnt Kelsie Voss and her efforts to keep my court running smoothly. I miss working with my legal assistant at the law office, Hillary, but thankfully God led someone to me who will fill her role well. I didn’t think there’d ever be someone to match Hillary’s smarts and skills, but I think I may have found someone to do just that. Good thing Hillary helped me pick her replacement. In case you’re wondering, Hillary didn’t want to work full time since she has a precious buncle of joy, Pearl, at hone to care for. She’s working for Helenna Bird and enjoying the change of pace.

Remember that we may still have to campaign to hold on to the position, so if you’d like to help please send me an email at kevin4judge@gmail.com.

Blessings,

Hon. Kevin M. Smith
